You. Will. Read.

Picture
This is language arts -- of course you will read!  During this school year, we will read two novels, several short stories, poetry, and plays. No worries...it's all good!

Here is what you can expect: By the end of the year, you will become a more effective communicator, and you will also grow as a critical thinker. This is how we will get you there:

* Every day when you come in, you will work on bell work. Typically, your bell work will be DLR (Daily Language Review), which will help you master grammar.

* At the beginning of the week, you will pick up a Weekly Work packet to do for homework. Weekly Work is due at the end of each week. These packets are designed to help you review and improve your skills to prepare for OAAs.

* You will learn vocabulary to expand your word base, and you'll learn new writing skills. We might even tempt you with a movie or two.

* You will also have four quarterly SSR book projects -- see the project page for details.

Grades are weighted as follows:
Homework = 10%
Classwork and Participation = 20%
Quizzes = 30%
Tests and Projects = 40%
